Larimar and individuality

A fragment of the Caribbean.

The identity of Dominican larimar and the role of an unrepeatable stone in every TIGUERÓN piece.

Blue larimar pieces with different natural veins on pale stone

Two stones can share a family of blues without sharing a pattern. Larimar introduces a difference that follows no template: each selection contributes its own distribution of shades and veins to the bottle's crown.

THE ESSENTIAL IDEA

Painting brings the artist's gesture. Larimar adds natural variation. Together, they give each piece its individual identity.

01

What is larimar

Larimar is the trade name for a blue variety of pectolite from the Dominican Republic, studied by GIA as a gem material. Its identity establishes a specific connection between our design and a Dominican material.

At TIGUERÓN, the stone is not conceived as an interchangeable ornament simply adding blue. We want its selection to engage with the painting, the closure's proportions and the overall presence of each piece.

02

Choosing a stone, not repeating a pattern

Differences in shade and visual distribution form part of the material's appeal. One stone may show more uniform blue areas; another, contrasts and veins inviting closer observation.

Our idea of premium selection prioritises the harmony of the particular piece: its appearance, polished finish and relationship with the ceramic. We do not reduce that choice to always seeking the strongest blue or presenting all stones as identical.

03

A crown completing the work

Larimar's position is deliberate: the bottle's highest point. There, its polished surface catches light and contrasts with the painted strokes.

The setting should support it discreetly. The design intention is to perceive a coherent piece first, then discover its details on approach: the edge, the stone and the meeting of materials.

04

Two sources of individuality

Hand painting means every interpretation includes the artist's decisions. The stone brings natural differences. One collection can share a visual language without producing visually identical pieces.

That is essential to our vision of a collectible object: recognising the series while distinguishing your own piece within it. Individuality lies in observable details, not merely the word ‘exclusive’.

05

Material, craft and context

Larimar does not replace ceramic work or make a bottle extraordinary on its own. Its value within the project emerges through its relationship with the complete design and the people making it possible.

As collections develop, we will communicate their materials and finishes. Current images express an aesthetic direction; final selection belongs to the development of each piece.
